Itinerary
Day 1 Arrival & Transfer
Arrive at Mundo Maya Airport, meet your expedition host, and travel by private 4x4 to our remote sanctuary in the Maya Forest. Settle into your cabin, enjoy a welcome dinner, and receive a safety and conservation briefing.
Day 2 Waterholes & Wildlife Monitoring
Visit hidden forest waterholes and active camera‑trap stations used to monitor jaguars, tapirs, and other key species. Afternoon birdwatching and sunset photography around the camp.
Day 3
4x4 Safaris & Night Tracking
Venture deeper into the reserve on 4x4 safaris, exploring remote tracks and vantage points. After dark, join a guided night walk focused on nocturnal mammals, owls, and the sounds of the living forest.
Day 4 Guided Walks & Birdwatching
Spend the day on interpretive jungle walks with our naturalists, learning about forest ecology, medicinal plants, and birdlife. Optional macro and landscape photography sessions.
Day 5
Final Tracking & Conservation Briefing
Final wildlife tracking sessions and time in hides for last photographic opportunities. In the evening, a closing conservation briefing on how your expedition directly supports long‑term protection of the Maya Forest.
Day 6 Departure
After breakfast, depart camp by 4x4 for your private transfer back to Mundo Maya Airport, carrying home images, stories, and a tangible contribution to rainforest conservation.

Fitness Level
This expedition is suitable for travelers with a moderate fitness level. You should be comfortable walking 3–6 km (2–4 miles) per day on uneven forest trails, in warm and humid conditions, sometimes in low light or at night. We keep group sizes small and adapt the pace to the group, but a basic level of mobility and balance is essential.

Are wildlife sightings guaranteed?
No. All animals are completely wild and free, so sightings can never be guaranteed. However, our itineraries, hides, and camera‑trap monitoring are designed to give you the best possible chances for ethical, high‑quality encounters and photography.
What is included in the price?
Your expedition includes all meals, snacks, coffee and tea, eco‑conscious lodging, private 4x4 transfers from Mundo Maya Airport, guided walks and safaris, access to hides and monitoring sites, park permits, and conservation fees. Flights, insurance, alcoholic drinks, and gratuities are not included.
How do I reach the expedition?
You will fly into Flores (Mundo Maya International Airport) in Petén, Guatemala. Our team meets you on arrival and provides private 4x4 ground transfers directly to and from our Dos Lagunas sanctuary.
Is the expedition physically demanding?
The expedition is designed for travelers with a spirit of adventure. It includes 4x4 vehicle travel, jungle walks, and night expeditions. We recommend a good level of physical fitness.
What should I pack?
We recommend lightweight long‑sleeve shirts and pants in neutral colors, sturdy waterproof hiking boots, a light rain jacket, hat and sunscreen, insect repellent, a reusable water bottle, headlamp with extra batteries, binoculars, and your preferred camera gear. A small personal first‑aid kit is also advised.
Is the experience suitable for children?
While the expedition is primarily designed for adults, we do welcome children who are adventurous and respectful of the environment. Please note the remote location and physical demands.
What type of accommodation is provided?
We provide comfortable, rustic cabins and cabañas within the protected area. These are designed for a low-impact, intimate experience with private bathrooms and high-quality bedding.
What is the best season to visit?
The dry season, from May to July, is the most popular and reliable time to visit. It offers the best wildlife viewing. It is the hottest time but its when the animals come to the water.
How does my trip support conservation?
50% of our profits are directly invested into the protection of the Maya Forest. Your expedition helps fund habitat preservation, wildlife monitoring, and local conservation programs.
Can the expedition be customized?
Yes, we offer private and group expeditions tailored to your specific interests. Whether you want a focused photography trip or a comprehensive conservation experience, we can design it for you. In Case you don'w wish to walk we offer private helicopter tours as well.
